Questions
Before you begin.
Is LawChat a law firm? Is this legal advice?
No to both. LawChat is legal research software. It helps you understand Romanian law and prepare, but it does not give legal advice, does not create a lawyer–client relationship and cannot represent you. For advice or representation, contact a lawyer admitted to the Romanian Bar.
Do I need to speak Romanian?
No. You ask in English and receive answers in English. The Romanian text of the law is shown alongside, so you or your lawyer can check exactly what it says.
Can I upload documents written in Romanian?
Yes. Contracts, court documents and letters from authorities can be uploaded, explained and translated into English.
Can I submit LawChat's translations to a court or authority?
No. Translations are for understanding only. Courts, notaries and public authorities require a sworn translator authorised by the Romanian Ministry of Justice.
How do I know an answer is accurate and current?
Every rule is quoted from the consolidated legislation in force, with its source and status. You can open the source and read it yourself. Where the stakes are high, have the answer reviewed by a lawyer.
